Hilleberg Nallo
A Hilleberg tunnel is a different argument from a dome: two or three hooped poles in parallel, inner and outer pitched together in one go, and a shape that is extremely strong end-on to wind and useless side-on. The Nallo 2 is 70.5 ounces of four-season tent, which is light for the category, with a 14-square-foot vestibule and Kerlon 1200 — a silicone-coated ripstop with a tear strength Hilleberg publishes because most makers will not. It is not freestanding and never pretends to be; the pitch depends entirely on the stakes.
Best for
Long trips in wind and weather where the tent is pitched and struck daily and never has to stand unstaked.
Hilleberg Nammatj
The Nammatj is the Nallo built for worse weather: Kerlon 1800 instead of 1200, 10 mm poles instead of 9 mm, and a lower 37.4-inch profile. Ten and a half ounces heavier than the Nallo 2, two more square feet of floor, a smaller vestibule and $350 more. This is Hilleberg's Black Label line, which is the one they will sell you for a winter expedition; the Red Label Nallo is the one for everything short of that.

Winter expeditions and exposed camps where the tent has to survive conditions you cannot walk away from.
