Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL
The Tiger Wall is the Copper Spur with the back half of the pole structure taken away: one hub at the head, a short foot spreader, and two stakes doing the work the missing pole used to do. That saves seven ounces over the Copper Spur UL2 and costs a square foot of floor and an inch of head height — a trade a lot of people take, because 35 ounces buys you two doors and two vestibules, which the sub-two-pound competition mostly does not offer. The catch is semi-freestanding: the foot corners have to be staked or the tent sags, so it is a poor choice for wooden platforms and rock slabs where stakes have nowhere to go.
Best for
A weight-counting pair who still want their own door, and who camp where stakes go into the ground.
Big Agnes Fly Creek UL
The Fly Creek is the cheapest way into a 30-ounce double-wall tent, and the saving is paid for in one place: the door. There is one, at the head end, so the person sleeping on the far side crawls over their partner to get out, and the single vestibule is eight square feet of gear space for two people's boots and packs. Everything else is the familiar Big Agnes recipe — hubbed DAC pole, 15D recycled ripstop, 42 inches of head height, semi-freestanding foot corners. As a solo tent it is excellent value; as a two-person tent it is a tent for couples who are genuinely relaxed about climbing over each other.
Best for
A solo hiker who wants the 2-person floor to sprawl in, or a couple who does not mind a single door.
